Going Wild in Haweswater

This dramatic and tranquil Lake District landscape, surrounding the Haweswater Reservoir, is at the heart of the Eastern Fells Landscape Recovery Project. The team is already delivering successful landscape restoration works alongside nature-friendly farming, for the benefit of wildlife, water and people, and has exciting plans through the LRP to do much more over the next twenty years. I was commissioned with interpretive designer Marcus Byron by The RSPB to prepare an interpretation plan as part of the LRP’s development phase, with a focus on spectacular Wild Haweswater.

It has been great fun working with the passionate and knowledgeable project team to develop the interpretive vision and objectives. We have identified a comprehensive series of short, medium and long term opportunities for new interpretation and activities, which are appropriate for the target audiences and will complement and increase access to this rugged and remote landscape and its remarkable stories. We’re now all keeping our fingers firmly crossed that the project will be awarded funding to go forward to delivery.
