Telling the Tweed’s Tales

It’s been a joy to work with the team at Destination Tweed once again this spring. Having prepared the Interpretation Strategy for the new River Tweed Trail back in 2022 with Bright, helping the project take another step towards delivering the interpretive experience is very satisfying.

This time I worked with longstanding colleague Rob Robinson to prepare a Community Engagement Strategy for Destination Tweed. The aim is for the project to develop a collaborative community story archive, to celebrate the aspects of the Tweed that are most important to local people, river users and visitors. It will also be a key resource for future interpretation and engagement projects – a vibrant treasure trove of tales that the interpretive team can draw upon when shaping the trail experience.

Rob and I enjoyed working with Luke, Sophie, Charlotte and co, pinning down the aims and objectives of the archive and the practical underpinning to make it happen. There are so many captivating stories to tell about the river – we barely scratched the surface with the interpretation planning research! – so drawing more material together in a single virtual library will be an invaluable resource as well as a brilliant legacy for the project.
